I get a lot of questions about how I curl my hair! Getting that effortless beach wave can help elevate your look drastically. I have gotten really familiar with using my curling iron and typically use it multiple times a week. So I am going to share my step by step tutorial to help you achieve this same look. The steps are pretty much the same weather short or long hair.

Prep Your Hair: I like to curl my hair with "dirty" hair because it will hold the curl longer and last all day. Typically I curl my hair day 2 or 3 or no showering. If you need to dirty up your hair, use Tresemme Dry Shampoo. And not perfectly straight hair is fine because it gives that added texture and illusion that you have curled every piece.

Section Off Hair: I typically section off 1 - 2 inch pieces and pick from the crown of my head near my part line. If you curl too small or too large of pieces, it can look not as relaxed and natural.

Curl Your Hair: Curl each sectioned piece away from your face on each side. Leave about 1 - 2 " straight and uncurled at the bottom of each piece. This helps to achieve that effortless beach wave look as well as blends in your curled pieces with your non curled pieces underneath. I curl the piece all the way to the top of my head to get the most dynamic wave possible.
Tip: For shorter hair, I found that alternating pieces of curling all the way up to the crown, and then 2/3 the way up created a more dynamic curl vs having only one single wave of curls.

Texture Spray: After you have finished curling, run your hands through your hair to smooth out the curls. Then lastly, I love to use theKristin Ess Texture Spray to help hold the curls yet still makes it workable and not stiff.

NARS Matte Lip Pencil
I typically go with a rose lip that is subtle yet girly (last seen in this post here). But for the winter months and more dramatic date nights, I wanted a bolder lip that makes a statement. Finding the perfect, wearable color can be difficult on top of finding a lipstick that doesn't feel gross on. This NARS matte lip pencil is the answer!! I am wearing the color Walkyrie and it is the perfect combination of a subtle camel, coral color. I love how it is soft and neutral but still gives that added dimension. This lip pencil has been my go to for easy to wear color that I even forget I am wearing it! It feels that effortless on and gives just the right amount of color. And the matte finish is a creamy texture that does not cake up on you lips.
