So I recently did a post on why you should join the sneaker trend (post here). And now the sneaker trend is evolving into more than just casual or athleisure wear. First off, I will admit that this was a bit tricky for me to grasp how-to style sneakers with dresses, jumpsuits, skirts, and more that I had been seeing on Pinterest or Instagram. I was also second guessing myself since this style was not something I was use to! Here is how to dress up your sneakers and feel confident about it.
First off, I suggest when trying this trend for the first time, pick an event that can accommodate a dressier outfit yet still be in need for comfort. This past week, Patrick and I played hookie from work one day and went to The Broad Contemporary Art Museum in downtown Los Angeles. I typically dress a bit nicer with a dress or jumpsuit in higher quality materials when attending an art museum. Yet, we were going to be walking around downtown to and from the museum as well as standing to look at art for 2+ hours. This was the perfect opportunity to pair my Jeffery Campbell sneakers with this pink & white jumpsuit.
And my next piece of advice is just to rock it! Own the fact that sneakers are okay (and wayyy more comfortable on you) to pair with a dressier outfit. Living downtown and constantly exploring things to do, see, and eat I will definitely be rocking this trend. Also, this is going to be a game changer when traveling and exploring new cities!
Share below how you wear your sneakers.

location: Malibu, California
For my husband and my one year anniversary we decided to go on a relaxing staycation in Malibu. Sip on a little wine, enjoy yummy food, and soak in the sun on the beach. It was the perfect little weekend getaway and I highly recommend doing it in a little more unconventional way. Here is what we did for the perfect weekend in Malibu.
WHERE WE STAYED
We rented this adorable little airstream on Airbnb and loved it!! It was so magical to stay in such a cool and unique space. It really made the trip special. We immediately got home and set all of our stuff inside to go hangout on the amazing deck. There was plenty of room to lounge on the outdoor sofa and enjoy the trees around us. And did I mention that there is a firepit?! If you are not familiar with SoCal weather, it gets quite chilly at night so this was a must. And we got to make smores as well ;) It was so nice to get away from the city and enjoy a spot walking distance from the beach that seemed so secluded and immersed in nature. And little chickens were out back lol! If you click this link, you can get $40 in travel credit when you signup with Airbnb.
Here are some other airstream options in Malibu here, here, and here. SUNSET PICNIC
The first night we packed up an amazing spread of meats, cheeses, olives, and dips to have a picnic on the beach while watching surfers ride in the waves at sunset. Man, was it beautiful to watch! For Patrick and my honeymoon we went to Portugal and stayed in a B&B on a vineyard called Monte da Casteleja. The rose was the best we had tasted with buttery rich notes. I surprised Patrick with ordering wine from that winery to enjoy over our anniversary weekend. The rose paired perfectly with the romantic night. As the sun started to go down, I wore this comfortable pullover sweater from Free People (old, similar here) to keep warm. And it also matched the vibrant sunset colors!
BRUNCH @ MALIBU FARMS
If you are in Malibu, you have to stop by Malibu Farm on the pier, It was the cutest little spot overlooking the water and pier. Patrick and I loved the view and lounging on couch seating!I got the Avocado & Bacon Tacos and Patrick got the Green Eggs & Ham, Really a true local experience to relax while enjoying good food and drinks with of course that amazing beach view!
EL MATADOR BEACH
El Matador Beach is probably my favorite beach in Malibu. It has rocky cliff side with amazing little coves. It reminded me a lot of our Honeymoon in Portugal as well. I highly suggest getting their early (before 11 am) to get a good spot. Sometimes the tide can come up and cover a lot of the available sand spots. Also note that it is down a few flights of stairs so do not overpack!! We packed mojitos and lunch snacks plus plenty of sunscreen. Also, check out this black bikini from my post here.
We ate at Moonshadows restuarant for our anniversary dinner and made smores that night at our fire pit at the airstream. It was such a relaxing and romantic weekend getaway that I highly recommend. What are some of your favorite beach spots or activities??

I recently got the opportunity to attend a blogger networking event hosted by Create & Cultivate and Roxy. This was my first ever event to attend so it was a bit nerve racking to know all the ins-n-outs. And on top of that, what was I going to wear?!! Here is my guide for you to have a successful blogger event to best showcase, well you!!
1. BE TRUE TO YOUR BRAND
If your blog's number one goal is to share affordable fashion, do not show up in high priced designer clothing. This will completely confuse other brands you are trying to work with, fellow bloggers, and whoever you come in contact with at the event. In my case I chose items that are all under $100 and true to my blog and what I am trying to portray.
2. ONE STATEMENT PIECE
Pick one piece whether it is a print, style, or shape that is currently on trend to showcase within your look. This shows that you are up to date on the current world and what is new. I chose this adorable leopard clutch since animal prints are so "in" right now!
3. BE COMFORTABLE
If those super high heels hurt, then ditch them for a cute strappy pair of sandals. You need to feel comfortable in what you are wearing to make the best impression. I chose jeans and wedges so that I could be comfortable, yet chic, all night.
4. EASY ACCESS CLUTCH/CROSS BODY
Make sure that the bag you choose to bring is easy to access in order to grab and hand out as many business cards as possible when talking to potential collaborations or just networking with fellow bloggers. Having to dig around in a large purse can be frustrating to not only you but your contact. I chose an easy flip-open clutch for this event.
