This past weekend Patrick and I took the doggo to Big Bear Lake for a weekend getaway. It was so nice to unplug and just relax together. And man the views were incredible. I highly recommend to plan a weekend getaway to a local lake or river if you can! Here are the essentials for your lake getaway from must do activities to what to pack.

For your fun little lake getaway, find a cute lake cabin near the water on Airbnb or a local rental agency. Setting the entire trips mood starts with a cute little cabin. We rented the A Frame of Mind from Big Bear Cool Cabins and had the best time. We also loved cooking dinner on the charcoal grill and sitting on the fenced in porch with Finley.

We had such a fun time on the lake and seeing all the view by renting a kayak. I highly recommend renting either a kayak, canoe, paddle board, etc to get out on the water to explore and soak in all the views! We rented from GetBoards in Big Bear because it was so easy to have access to the lake and they were dog friendly. We spent 2 hours kayaking on the lake, admiring all the lake houses, and wow how peaceful it was. I wore a dark bikini to not get dirty from the lake water and had a backpack to store a tank top and shorts on the kayak. In order to not get burnt and stay shaded on my face, I had a straw hat and sunglasses. I highly recommend getting out on the water to complete your lake experience! Oh and Finley swam in the lake for the first time, eek!

One of the most important reasons to have a vacation getaway is to lounge and relax. Taking some time to just enjoy being away is priceless. We spent some time on the beach at Carol Morrison Public Launch just hanging out. Whether you find a beach type area, rock side near the water, or hanging on a dock, take some R&R time to read a book or chat.

Your in nature so enjoy it! Take a walk around to admire the water, trees, and area around you. We found an amazing water path, Stanfield Marsh Wildlife and Waterfowl Preserve,
that had some of the most serene views. It overlook the water and we saw geese. Put on your walking shoes and get out there.
What a fun little trip and can't wait to plan our next little weekend getaway!

I just got back from a trip to New York City and had a blast! I have not been back to NYC since a school trip in the eighth grade, and it was fun getting to explore a new city as an adult. We initially chose April in hopes that it would be warmer weather and springtime would be creeping in but it was still pretty chilly, at least for us LA folks ha, but would highly recommend trying to go in April or May to get the best weather possible. Here is what I wore in NYC in early April.
For most days I wore about the same outfit. I always wear sneakers when exploring a city because I want to see as much as I can and not have my feet slow me down. So these Adidas Original Cloudfoams were a must. It would get pretty chilly during the day because the wind would pick up between the buildings, so I wore either this Zara overcoat (similar here and here) or switched it out for aleather jacket on a warmer day. I also loved a good scarf over a long sleeve shirt or sweater to help block the wind around my neck and chin which was great. And I pretty much rotated through myhigh waist Madewell blue jeans and Joes Jeans black jeans.

This past weekend, we drove out of the city of Los Angeles and into a winter wonderland full of snow! It was so magical to experience the cold and play in the snow. I was on a mission to find not only a cozy and warm puffer, but I wanted to find a jacket with a vintage neon vibe. Because why not stand out while playing in the snow?
I got my inspiration for vintage neon from my mom in this picture above. We use to go skiing every year as a family and my mom had the coolest (even though we didn't know it at the time lol) jacket ever! I love the vintage poofer with all things neon to stand out. So I was on a mission to find a jacket just like hers and I did!
If you are local to LA and need some great vintage winter gear, go check out Melrose Trading Post. They have tons of cute neon poof jackets like this one. I would also highly suggest checking out local thrift stores or flea markets in your area. You never know what you might find. And if you are having bad luck finding one, I love these options below.
I had such a blast prancing around following Finley wander through the snow. These duck boots are great for most all "bad" weather conditions from rain and mud to snow! I love them because they have so much versatility and are not just strictly snow boots. Being in LA, I need one shoe that fits all occasions and these duck boots are just that! Layer some cozy socks underneath and you are golden.
