I think it is very important to balance your vacation days with some big landmarks, museums, attractions, etc that is a must see while visiting your destination with chill days of just immersing yourself into the new culture. So that is exactly what we did on Day 3 after doing many museums and sites the first two days. I love shopping in Paris, because duh it's Paris! But one of the boujee-est things I have done in Paris was have afternoon tea at the Peninsula hotel, pinkies out and all.
le bon marche
After grabbing some coffee at Matamata Coffee , we headed straight for Le Bon Marche which is a French department store. It has some of your top notch brands yet also has some more affordable options to shop. But either way, it is such an incredible window shopping experience none the less. The building and brand displays themselves are luxurious to go up and down different clothes racks just admiring the clothes. They even had a holiday section set up with floating Christmas trees.
After a bit of shopping, we headed to Les Oiseaux cafe for rose and lunch. Patrick and I split the club sandwich and fries which was plenty for both of us. It was nice to hang out outside drinking rose and people watching. The cafe is located right across from a park so it is pretty peaceful. Then after lunch we took the metro located right across the street back to the apartment to drop off our bags before heading right back out to these two local shops that I saw near our place that I had been dying to go to!! The first was Athina Boutique where I got the cutest handwritten sacre coeur tee and a corduroy jacket with a pink fur collar. The cutest Parisian stuff with boutique pricing.
bobby vintage thrift store
Bobby is by far a hidden gem that I could spend hoursss in. To be honest, I am not like whoo hoo when it comes to thrift stores because more times than not I find absolutely nothing. Bobby proved me wrong!! It had tons of options, many of them top brand names. And when I mean brand name pieces, it's like actually cute pieces. They have clothes, shoes, scarves, purses, jewelry, you name it! Also, do not miss going downstairs to keep shopping jackets and skirts for women plus a section for men as well. I got a vintage earrings and necklace set with leopard print, the coolest street wear tulle pullover, and a sexy sheer tie front top. It was so much fun, and the prices were 100% affordable!!
afternoon tea at the peninsula hotel
I had researched about the Peninsula Hotel and their raved Afternoon Tea, and I just couldn't resist participating. The hotel serves tea daily in the Le Lobby and you will need to make a reservation beforehand. Each person gets their choice of tea, sweet & savory pastries and finger sandwiches, plus an entire buffet of pretty much any sweet lovers dreams. You have to go with the mentality that there is no way that you can eat all of this. So in order to try as many things as possible just take a bite or two of each food item. I will warn you that it is a tad expensive but overall the whole family enjoyed it. The hotel itself is exquisite plus they had a strong trio playing live music. While we were there, the Peninsula was donating some of their proceeds with a featured pink berry tea and treats to support breast cancer awareness. I chose the pink berry tea and it was phenomenal!
Dress is smart casual. Women should wear a dress, skirt, or nice pants. Men should wear nice dress pants with a respectable top. Preferably no tennis shoes which is why Patrick and I both broke out our boots after shopping to wear to the Peninsula. Since tea ends at 6:00 pm, it is the perfect time to pop on over to the Eiffel Tower to view it at night with the glittering light show. Read all about the Eiffel Tower at night in my
blog post here. It is definitely a must see while in Paris!! And don't forget to pick up a bottle of champagne on the way. THINGS TO KNOW:
